Am I Crazy? Starting a New Business Making Old Doll Kits!

So, am I completely out of my mind? Probably. But here I am, boldly—or perhaps foolishly—launching a new business focused on old doll kits. Yes, you heard that right. Welcome to the Lil Missy Doll Company (version 4.0). Why version 4.0, you ask? Well, sit back and let me take you on a little trip down memory lane.

I’m ‘of a certain age’ and fondly remember building Lil Missy beaded doll kits with my mom in the 1970s. These kits, originally designed and marketed by Walco Dolls in 1974, were all the rage. In 1976, ownership transferred to Holiday, but alas, Holiday went bankrupt in the early 1980s. Then, the intrepid Sulyn Industries tried to revive the brand, but they gave up after just five dolls. I guess they didn’t have my level of crazy ambition.

So, you might be wondering: What on earth am I thinking? Honestly, I’m not entirely sure. But I’m going to give it a shot anyway. I’m creating new foam bodies, modernizing the heads, arms, and all the little details. The designs I have planned are nothing short of stunning. I’m using the finest materials, and offering fabulous display case options so you can showcase your gorgeous creations forever.

If you’re a fan of the Lil Missy beaded doll kits from the 1970s, or if you just love creating beautiful dolls—whether on your own, with friends, or with your children and grandchildren—please stay tuned. There are exciting times ahead!

I’m based in Tucson, Arizona. For those of you nearby, I hope to meet you at one of the events I have planned for after the launch…as soon as I figure out how to actually get this product off the ground. So here’s to a new adventure and a little bit of madness. Because, let’s face it, what’s life without a bit of craziness? Stay tuned, doll lovers—Lil Missy 4.0 is coming your way!
